Plants for pollinators: Choosing your plants

This is a Learning through Landscapes resource to help you plan your planting of BULBS, BORDERS, BEDS, PLANTERS  and POTS.

When considering what to plant you will want to consider the size, shape and colour of your planting to make for attractive and effective use of the space you have.

Plants for pollinator cards

The following 40 cards contain plants that are perfect for pollinators.

These easy to use sorting cards can be used by pupils, teachers and anyone looking to plan a pollinator friendly garden.

Use the cards to help plan for planting and  year round flowering by following the simple colour codes- supporting all of our pollinators whatever time of year they emerge.

Use the information on size and flowering time to choose where in your borders to plant (front/middle/back) and the ‘type of flower’ to provide food for a range of our different pollinators.

All have been selected from the RHS plants for pollinators list and planting for pollinators in Wales scheme.

Please see below to download these lists for even more choice.

Use the RHS website for more detailed information on purchasing, planting and growing these plants.
